ABOUT SOMA SOMA

A space where embodied practice becomes a path toward personal
and collective transformation.

OUR STORY

How SOMA SOMA Began

Emily Thulier and Amélie Gaulier first met in November 2023 at the bookstore STORM, the first home of SOMA SOMA in Brooklyn. From that meeting, SOMA SOMA grew into a shared practice dedicated to creating inclusive spaces for all people to feel, imagine, restore, unlearn, and transform – all in support of collective liberation.

Together, they bring backgrounds in somatic movement, trauma integrative therapy, and community care to create experiences rooted
in curiosity, compassion, and collective transformation.

We create spaces for embodied exploration, joyful play, and intentional change. Through movement, meditation, creative inquiry, and rest, we invite people to reconnect with themselves while cultivating more compassionate relationships with others and the living world.

OUR PRACTICE

A space to return
to what matters

At SOMA SOMA, we believe every body
carries history, memory, and possibility.
Our personal experiences are deeply connected to the social conditions we live within, and through embodied practice, we explore how transformation happens both within ourselves and in relationship with others.

Our work brings together somatic movement, contemplative practice, creative expression, and relational learning. Through guided movement, meditation, journaling, somatic drawing, and collective reflection, we create opportunities to slow down, listen more deeply, and discover new possibilities for healing, connection, and collective care.

We are continually inspired by practitioners, educators, artists, and organizers whose work reminds us that embodiment of our human values is both a personal and collective practice. Read more here.
